Job Title: Production Supervisor Welding Operations (MIG / TIG / Robotic) Location: McCook IL 60525 (On-site) Compensation: $70000 $80000 annually (based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations with primary oversight of the Weld Department including MIG TIG and robotic welding processes. Reporting to the Production Manager this role is responsible for ensuring production targets quality standards safety compliance and on-time delivery are consistently met.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on welding knowledge combined with proven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment along with a track record of improving efficiency reducing scrap and developing production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Workflow Management
Supervise daily production activities across weld booths robotic cells and downstream operations
Ensure production schedules are met and resolve bottlenecks in coordination with Planning Quality and Maintenance teams
Balance labor allocation to optimize throughput and efficiency
Track and report KPIs including output efficiency scrap/rework and on-time delivery
Welding Operations Oversight
Oversee MIG TIG and robotic welding processes and ensure optimal performance
Support weld troubleshooting setup and corrective actions
Improve arc-on time reduce rework and optimize weld cell utilization
Partner with Quality and CWI personnel to maintain weld integrity standards
Quality & Compliance
Ensure adherence to AWS ASME ISO and internal quality standards
Support first-article inspections and in-process quality checks
Lead corrective actions for non-conformance and maintain production documentation
Safety Leadership
Enforce OSHA and company safety policies across welding operations
Ensure proper PPE usage and safe welding practices
Monitor ventilation and fume extraction systems
Conduct safety meetings and proactively address hazards
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise coach and develop welders and production staff
Manage scheduling attendance overtime and staffing levels
Support hiring onboarding and training initiatives
Conduct performance reviews and foster accountability and teamwork
Continuous Improvement
Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S and waste reduction
Analyze KPIs to improve productivity and reduce scrap
Support cross-training and workforce flexibility
Recommend process and equipment improvements
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
5 years of manufacturing experience with significant welding exposure
2 years of supervisory experience in a production/manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of MIG TIG and robotic welding processes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols
Experience working in a production-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
Technical or trade school education
Experience in high-mix or high-volume manufacturing
Knowledge of WPS/PQR documentation
Familiarity with ERP systems and production reporting tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
