Position Summary:

The Vice President Transportation will be charged with operational effectiveness in service cost people and capacity and will partner heavily with key management team members and colleagues to transform freight into a profit center for the business. The successful executive will drive the ongoing development and implementation of Bonduelle Fresh Americas strategy for both dedicated and company owned assets as well as 3PL addition the VP Transportation will align with his/her supply chain counterparts and other functional departments to ensure end-to-end planning and execution is achieved building an organization that will sustain its competitive advantage over the long term.

By your key position in our company you will support our environmental and social initiatives to drive progress against our corporate social responsibility and B Corp certification ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve transportation and logistics services in areas of quality speed to market capacity reliability and overall customer service.

    Continue to foster an operating culture which is accountable collaborative and innovative with a focus on growth and bottom-line performance.

    Understand and review P&L variances and develop action plans to meet region performance objectives. Oversee operations budgets; reviews performance to budget; monitors consolidates analysis and reports budget variances.

    Stay abreast of industry leading processes and macro-level market dynamics; implement those that meet Bonduelles near-term objectives and long-term strategies.

    Develop a sound appreciation of Bonduelles culture and how to both fit into it and help evolve it.

    Immerse oneself in the business; travel to major locations and facilities meet and establish relationships with key personnel and 3PL partners and understand the value proposition and metrics that drive the business.

    Devise new strategies for operational improvement and efficiency by reviewing and implementing new KPIs as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will need to be a process driven transportation leader -- data and metric focused and someone who thrives on accountability. This individual will need a strong emphasis on execution and clearly understands the need to roll up ones sleeves and dive deeply into the details. This is paramount in a fast moving highly perishable fresh food operation. Lastly he/she must be able to function and lead a business without relying on massive teams budgets infrastructure and resources. More specific requirements include:

    A minimum of 10-15 years of successful business experience in supply chain logistics or transportation. Will need to have knowledge of transportation operations including asset management transportation management system management government (DOT) regulation and compliance budgeting and expense analysis. Strong consideration will be given to those who have shipper/customer experience and carrier experience.

    S/he will have had responsibility in their career in a dedicated or private fleet environment using transportation management systems.

    Will be confident aggressive and dynamic but not pretentious or ego-centric; S/he will be tenacious resilient and be self-aware.

    S/he will have a demonstrated track record of talent development/enhancement/recruitment with a passion for building high performing teams.

    Take out cost while simultaneously improving and/or enhancing service to the customer and maximizing profit for the business.

    Proven track record of driving an energized goal-oriented metrics-driven company culture that attracts retains and develops the most talented personnel in the industry.

    A strong and broad business background with solid financial acumen.

    Deep understanding of how to utilize technologies and systems to improve overall service customer satisfaction and profitability.

    Experience implementing operational excellence so that low-cost capabilities and initiatives will strengthen the companys competitive position.

    A proven track record as an executive with strong leadership interpersonal skills and with the ability to quickly establish credibility and lead manage and motivate a highly driven management team.

    An energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic and a self-directed work style.

    Must have demonstrated ability to function at varied levels including hands-on detail work and higher-level strategic thinking along with the ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management.

    Positive attitude when facing adversity and possessing the required perseverance and persistence.

    An undergraduate degree is required ideally in a technical field (e.g. supply chain operations engineering); an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
