MF Professional Services Inc. (MFPS) provides human resources payroll benefits administration and operational support to mission-driven organizations. This position supports MFPS clients including Mi Familia Vota (MFV) and Mi Familia en Acción (MFA).

MFV and MFA are national Latino-led organizations dedicated to strengthening civic engagement building political power and advancing policies that support Latino communities.

Position Summary

The Canvass Lead coordinates daily canvassing activities designed to increase civic participation voter registration voter education and voter engagement within Latino communities.

This position provides daily direction training coaching and field support to a team of approximately four to five Canvassers. The Canvass Lead assigns turf distributes materials communicates goals monitors field activity reviews data and submits required reports.

The Canvass Lead also participates in canvassing and voter-registration activities. This position requires substantial outdoor work frequent walking flexible scheduling accurate recordkeeping and compliance with voter-registration data safety and reporting requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Canvass assigned neighborhoods and engage community members regarding voter registration voter education voting by mail Get Out the Vote and other approved civic-engagement initiatives.

  • Use only approved scripts forms literature digital tools and calls to action.

  • Provide accurate information and respect individuals who decline to participate or ask that outreach end.

  • Manage the daily activities of an assigned team of approximately four to five Canvassers.

  • Prepare the office or staging location and conduct daily pre-shift briefings.

  • Communicate goals schedules turf assignments scripts safety information and reporting expectations.

  • Distribute voter-registration materials literature clipboards mobile devices identification and other approved supplies.

  • Coordinate employee deployment breaks check-ins transportation and return times.

  • Create or cut daily turf using VAN MiniVAN maps spreadsheets or other approved tools.

  • Track turf assignments completion coverage and unresolved issues.

  • Secure printed and electronic voter information at the end of each shift.

  • Train and coach Canvassers on scripts voter-registration procedures outreach techniques data collection technology safety and reporting.

  • Conduct daily team and individual debriefings.

  • Monitor employee attendance productivity outreach quality data accuracy conduct and compliance.

  • Provide feedback coaching retraining recognition and field demonstrations.

  • Promptly report significant performance attendance conduct safety or compliance concerns.

  • Review canvassing reports voter-registration records commitments and contact results for completeness and accuracy.

  • Enter or upload results into VAN spreadsheets databases or other approved systems.

  • Submit complete and timely daily and weekly reports.

  • Reconcile reported activity with turf completion collected forms database records and employee reports.

  • Maintain required custody and tracking records for voter-registration applications.

  • Ensure applications are never altered discarded withheld falsified improperly prefilled or used for an unauthorized purpose.

  • Immediately report suspected voter-registration misconduct falsification data manipulation or form mishandling.

  • Ensure employees complete required training before conducting voter-registration activities.

  • Protect confidential voter community-member employee and organizational information.

  • Implement field-safety weather heat transportation emergency and incident-reporting procedures.

  • Maintain required employee check-ins and respond promptly to missed check-ins threats injuries vehicle incidents or other emergencies.

  • Stop or modify field activities when conditions present a safety risk.

  • Transport assigned employees and authorized materials only when driving responsibilities are assigned and approved.

  • Ensure employees accurately record all hours worked and do not perform off-the-clock work.

  • Maintain appropriate distinctions between MFAs nonpartisan activities and MFVs legally permissible advocacy or electoral activities.

  • Work mornings evenings weekends and extended campaign-style hours as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • A specific degree is not required. Relevant education training campaign experience community experience and demonstrated field leadership will be considered.

  • Canvassing voter-registration campaign community-outreach field-organizing or civic-engagement experience required.

  • Experience directing training coaching or supporting a canvassing or outreach team preferred.

  • Experience using VAN MiniVAN or another voter-contact system preferred.

  • Experience cutting turf monitoring field activity entering data or preparing campaign reports preferred.

  • Knowledge of voter registration voter education canvassing Get Out the Vote and direct voter-contact practices.

  • Ability to supervise delegate motivate train and support employees.

  • Strong interpersonal coaching conflict-resolution and team-building skills.

  • Strong organizational time-management prioritization and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage schedules materials transportation turf check-ins and reporting deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail accuracy documentation and follow-through.

  • Ability to read maps and navigate assigned communities.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel spreadsheets databases and mobile applications.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.

  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules and travel throughout the assigned service area.

Voter-Registration and Driving Requirements

The employee must meet all eligibility appointment training and certification requirements applicable to individuals who oversee collect or submit voter-registration applications in the assigned jurisdiction. Depending on applicable law this may include being registered or eligible to register to vote.

If driving is assigned the employee must maintain a valid drivers license legally required automobile insurance an acceptable driving record and access to a safe and reliable vehicle unless an organizational vehicle is provided.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

With or without reasonable accommodation the employee must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods while canvassing or supervising field activities.

  • Travel on foot across sidewalks stairs uneven surfaces and varying terrain.

  • Operate a computer tablet mobile phone and other field equipment.

  • Read maps forms scripts voter information reports and technical instructions.

  • Lift carry push or move outreach materials weighing less than 25 pounds.

  • Enter and exit a vehicle repeatedly when required.

  • Perform field duties outdoors in varying weather conditions.

This position regularly operates in neighborhoods community locations offices public spaces events and vehicles. Morning evening weekend and extended hours may be required during voter-registration drives election cycles GOTV periods community events and other high-volume activities.
