This part-time position will work 32 hours bi-weekly Saturday and Sunday 7a - 3:30p

Job Summary

Supports and is responsible for incorporating into job performance the Frederick Health (FH) mission vision core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Responsible for the completion of birth certificates and fetal death certificates including transcribing information into the State of Maryland Electronic Vital Records System ((MDEDRS)

Example of Essential Functions:

Scans and indexes all completed documents into the hospitals electronic medical record system.

Updates all newborns names in the hospitals electronic medical record system.

Communicates on a regular basis with Vital Records division of births participates in training with the State Department and follows all procedures issued by the State Department concerning the birth process.

Participates in ongoing feedback with the hospital nursing leadership as it pertains to the birth policies and procedures. Effectively communicates to improve processes and turnaround times with our birth registration process.

Responsible for completing affidavit of parentage paperwork.

  • Ability to work in an environment that is conducive to frequent distractions.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with computer terminals printers copy machines and fax machines.
  • Ability to follow hospital policy as it pertains to hand hygiene and isolation procedures on the hospital units

Minimum Education Training and Experience Required:

  • High school graduate or GED required
  • One year experience working in a hospital or physician office
  • A working knowledge of computer keyboard and typing ability is required. Keyboarding ability of 45wpm

Physical Demands:

Sedentary - Light Work - Lifting up to 15 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes). While work is mostly done sitting a certain amount of walking or standing is often necessary.

Repetition: Repeating the same motion over and over again places stress on the muscles and tendons. The severity of risk depends on how often the action is repeated the speed of the movement the required force and muscles involved.

Awkward Posture: Posture is the position your body is in and its effect on the muscle groups that are involved in the physical activity. Awkward postures include repeated or prolonged reaching twisting bending kneeling squatting working overhead with your hands or arms or holding fixed positions.

Pay is based on experience skills and education. If position is part-time salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid if applicable.

Hourly range: $17.51 - $22.66
