Job Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Art Assistant positions purpose is to support and assist the Fine Arts visual arts teachers and the department as a whole.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting the Visual Arts Teachers

  • Matting/framing/trimming projects

  • Working as a classroom assistant during specific lower school class periods

    • Maintaining a safe and calm atmosphere

    • Taking lower school students to their classrooms as needed

    • Assisting the lead teacher with handing out supplies providing support and engaging with the students

    • Providing support to the teachers during special Fine Arts events such as measuring and cutting mats for projects

  • Keeping clean/maintaining the art storage room

  • Monitoring and communicating with teachers on supplies that are received for storage (mat board and paper amounts etc)

  • Gathering papers/supplies from teachers mailboxes in the office and delivering them to the appropriate teacher

  • Assisting with organizing supplies/cabinets in teacher rooms to help with maintaining an orderly atmosphere and support with the supplies inventory


SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cover classrooms/class periods for teachers (bathroom breaks/emergencies etc) on an as-needed basis and directed by the Co-Directors of Fine Arts

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Associates degree is preferred but not required

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Highly organized

  • Technologically savvy

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment/ flexibility

  • General knowledge of the visual arts is preferred but not required

  • Knowledge of ruler and able to assess measurements

  • Ability to cut and glue with precision



WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Fine Arts (Visual Arts) classroom


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Light lifting of supply boxes on occasion (that can be moved via rolling cart)

  • Lifting and transporting small supplies to classrooms

  • Walking to various parts of the campus

  • Prolonged standing/ sitting

  • Stooping and/or kneeling
