Appointment Type and Details

This position is a one-semester (Spring 2027) full-time appointment with a 3-course teaching load. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in environmental studies geography or a closely related social science field by the position start date of January 2027. ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate by December 2026 will also be considered.

Position Responsibilities

The Department of Urban and Environmental Studies at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a one-semester (Spring 2027) Visiting Assistant Professor position in Environmental Studies beginning January 2027. The successful candidate will teach EVST 1000 Introduction to Environmental Studies; EVST 3998 Race Body and Environment; and a First-Year Seminar (FFYS 1000) based on the candidates expertise.

Our department values collaborative interdisciplinary and community-engaged approaches to teaching and research. We seek candidates who are excited to teach and mentor a diverse student body in Los Angeles and who will contribute to LMUs teacher-scholar model through excellent undergraduate teaching.
