Job Summary

The VC Lead oversees the BIM process from kick-off to closeout and ensures all BIM deliverables are met per the project schedule budget & scope including field liaison model coordination BIM team staffing/tasking and clear communication across the entire project team. Managing virtual models for construction managing the individuals that model in virtual spaces coordinating with other parties involved in the construction process and assisting in design planning and installation with field management. Ownership and accountability for these tasks is critical to the design planning coordination and installation of our commercial construction projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Directing VC Modelers assigning tasks (including self-performing when appropriate) setting priorities monitoring progress and QAQC of 3D modeling and 2D drawing deliverables in line
with VC Standards.
Interpreting the project schedule budget deliverable requirements and field requests to plan VC staffing ensuring any impacts due to changes/rework are reported to the project team.
Working in close coordination with the prefabrication department.
Maintaining clear communication with Superintendents Foremen & Project Managers to ensure ownership is clear expectations are understood and schedule is met.

Tasks
Obtain & review front end documents/models from General Contractor & Design Teams.
Initial planning and setup of BIM workflows throughout the project.
Setting up Revit projects and workspaces for modelers.
Applying knowledge and skills across multiple BIM coordination workflows.
Utilizing electrical systems and installation knowledge to aid in constructability.
Model detail annotate and design in virtual workspaces.
Coordinate with General Contractor and Trade Partners to produce a coordinated model.
Collaborating with field management on design planning and installation work.
Tracking tasks from field management for modeling requests per construction schedule.
Tasking production personnel to create modeled content & shop drawings in the workspace.
Detailing and generating installation drawings for the field.
Detailing and generating prefabrication drawings.

Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of Revit Navisworks Bluebeam Scanning Technologies like RealWorks and Recap Pro & Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Ability to produce BIM deliverables including 3D modeling 2D installation/prefabrication drawings and Total Station/QML point layout files in line with VC Standards.
  • Possesses the necessary communication skills adaptability and temperament to consistently meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining healthy working relationships.
  • Preferred licensed electrician with hands-on experience installing large/complex construction projects ideally General Foreman level or above.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical/telecom systems for large/complex construction projects.

The VC Lead is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Permanent full-time office-based or jobsite based Monday Friday typical office hours.
Overtime may be required to ensure client projects are delivered on time.
Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
Occasional travel to active construction sites in and out of state.
