Westfield Veterinary Group is looking for a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative team. What Youll Do

As a Veterinary Assistant youll help ensure the highest level of patient care by supporting appointments treatments and hospital operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations treatments and medical procedures.
  • Safely restrain patients for exams diagnostics treatments radiographs and procedures.
  • Collect patient histories and accurately document information in electronic medical records.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
  • Collect laboratory samples including urine and fecal specimens and assist with in-house diagnostics.
  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed by the veterinarian and within hospital protocols.
  • Monitor hospitalized and boarding patients recording and reporting changes in condition.
  • Educate clients on preventive care vaccinations parasite prevention medications and home care instructions.
  • Dispense medications as directed and provide clear client instructions.
  • Maintain a clean organized and sanitary hospital including exam rooms treatment areas kennels and common spaces.
  • Wash laundry sanitize dishes and equipment replenish supplies and assist with general hospital upkeep.
  • Admit and discharge patients while providing a positive client experience.
  • Support fellow team members and assist with additional duties as needed.
What Were Looking For
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred.
  • Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
  • Knowledge of vaccines preventive care laboratory sample collection and basic veterinary terminology.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy hospital environment.
  • Experience with electronic medical records; Cornerstone experience is a plus.
  • Dependable team-oriented and eager to learn.
