The Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center is a specialty practice comprised of board certified and residency trained doctors licensed veterinary technicians and support teams who are highly trained in Internal Medicine Oncology Ophthalmology Surgery Neurology Physical Rehabilitation and Emergency and Critical Care.

About the job: The Veterinary Assistant position will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all of our patients within the hospital. Perform Veterinary Assistant duties pursuant to VECC Protocols. Embodies the culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets. Assist DVMs and LVT in all duties necessary.

How youll make a difference

  • Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
  • Provide all technical support to primary emergency veterinarian
  • Provide comfort diagnostic surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients
  • Perform basic emergent and critical care anesthetic monitoring
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws arterial blood gas sampling cystocentesis urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine
  • Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing cross matching and slide agglutination testing
  • Accurately take and process abdominal thoracic appendicular spinal and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols
  • Properly use and maintain medical equipment
  • Provide professional client communication


What you will bring

  • Experience working as a Veterinary Assistant for 2 years
  • A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral
  • Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the technician protocols
  • Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects

Schedule

  • Thursday through Saturday 7:00am - 7:30pm at our Main location
  • Hybrid Main/North
    • Friday 7:00am - 7:30pm Main Hospital
    • Saturday & Sunday 6:00am - 6:30pm North Hospital

Salary: $18.00 - $22.00/hr depends on experience
