We provide comprehensive and progressive small animal care spanning pet wellness advanced testing and diagnostics and surgical procedures. Our facility is equipped to handle everything from routine care to urgent needs and emergency services. The AAHA accreditation ensures our protocols are held to rigorous standards in areas critical to patient outcome including advanced care anesthesiology and diagnostic imaging. You will be utilizing modern protocols and progressive approaches to medicine to deliver the highest standard of care.

Betty Baughs Animal Clinic is an AAHA-accredited well-established small animal practice proudly serving the Richmond community. Our 7-doctor team is collaborative supportive and dedicated to providing high-quality medicine and exceptional patient care.
Were looking for an Experienced Veterinary Assistant who wants to grow their skills in a positive team-oriented environment where assistants and technicians are respected utilized and supported.
Schedule & Work-Life Balance
- Four 10-hour shifts per week
- Rotating Saturdays (8:00 AM 1:00 PM) with a weekday half-day
- MondayFriday hours: 8:00 AM 6:00 PM
Compensation
$17.50 $20.00 per hour based on experience
What Youll Do
- Assist withvenipuncture and patient restraint
- Support patient care and treatment workflows
- Understand and applycore vs. lifestyle vaccine protocols
- Utilize medical terminology in a clinical setting
- Work closely with veterinarians and technicians to deliver excellent care
Equipment & Technology
- Cornerstone practice management software
- IDEXX in-house diagnostics
- Sedivue analyzer
- Ultrasound and advanced diagnostic equipment
- Laser therapy
Our Facility
- 7 exam rooms plus a dedicated comfort room
- Dogs and cats only
- Strong assistant support team
- Doctors typically see 1625 patients per day
- Team members rotate through roles to keep the day engaging and help prevent burnout

- Provide Essential Patient Care: Youll be a key player in the health of our patients assisting the medical team with hands-on care and ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
- Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: Youll be the backbone of the clinic anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth efficient and collaborative workflow.
- Create a Positive Client Experience: Youll help create a seamless visit for our clients by assisting with scheduling payments and communications always with a courteous and informative approach.
- Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: Youll take pride in maintaining the hospital performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold our high standards of care.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A calm and efficient approach with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
