Western National Insurance is seeking a UX Intern to join our Product Engineering team as part of the Summer 2027 Internship Program. Our company growth combined with our focus on innovation transformation and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of our team. The UX Intern will provide support to a variety of projects and initiatives while playing a key role in our day-to-day operations.

Western National Internship Program Summary:

Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our Product Engineering team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Position Summary:

As a UX Intern in our Internship Program you will be a key member of our Product Engineering team. Possible tasks that you will assist with include:

• Conduct interviews usability testing surveys and other research to understand agent needs.
• Evaluate workflows navigation content accessibility responsive design and visual consistency across current agent portals.
• Identify opportunities to create a more unified experience across agent portals and connected applications.
• Create user flows journey maps wireframes prototypes and other UX artifacts.
• Collaborate with product engineering QA and business stakeholders to turn feedback into actionable designs and recommendations.
• Present findings and document reusable UX patterns that support a future unified agent portal experience.

What Youll Need to Succeed:

• Senior-level undergraduate or graduate student studying UX design human-computer interaction interaction design information architecture psychology or a related field.
• Prior experience with UX design user research product design or interaction design.
• Experience creating wireframes prototypes user flows journey maps or similar UX artifacts; familiarity with Figma or a comparable design tool.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with a portfolio demonstrating UX thinking research or design work.

Compensation Overview:

The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
