Job Summary

The Basics:

We are looking for a US Payroll Manager to join the Global Payroll team and fully own and drive all aspects of US payroll operations. Tanium currentlyoperatespayroll across 15 countries for 2200 employees and growing. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of US Payroll Operations and has a passion for innovative payroll solutions. This position will foster relationships with senior internal stakeholders byestablishingand maintaining exceptional business relationships and working collaboratively with other organizational teams. The candidate is expected to be hands-on as they complete day-to-day payroll operations support new and existing pay programs and drive process standardization automation and improvement.They will havea very strongfundamental understanding of multi-state US payroll and payroll tax management.

This position follows the Companys hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison TX; Bellevue WA; Durham NC; Emeryville CA; or Reston VA.

What youll do:

  • Own the payroll processing of US salaried payroll for 1400 employees and hourly payroll for 100 employees.
  • Prepare payroll input filesprocessand review payroll outputs to verify accuracy and compliance confirming that all data is properly recorded and processed according to company policies.
  • Act as subject matter expert in US payrollprovidingvaluable insights guidance andassistanceto other team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform ongoing reconciliation and audit of data flowing from multiple systems into the payroll platform resolving discrepancies and errors tomaintaindata integrity and compliance.
  • Lead automation initiatives and process enhancements within the payroll department collaborating cross-functionally with HR IT Legal and Accounting to streamline andoptimizepayroll operationsincluding benefits administration and withholdings (e.g. leave of absence employee benefits 401k FSA etc.).
  • Ensure adherence to best practices to minimize errors andmaintainoperational excellence.
  • Assistwith month-end close activities such as payroll journal entries and GL account reconciliations.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and serve asliaisonbetween employee and third-party providers.
  • Audit reconcile and fund 401k contributions associated with each and resolve discrepancies in real time.
  • Research and review payroll tax reporting and ensureaccurateandtimelyfilings withappropriate governmentauthorities.
  • Manage and track tax inquiries amendments adjustments and follow up withtaxteam as needed.
  • Complete quarter-end and year-end reconciliations for tax filings and W-2 filings.
  • Independently lead payroll related audits such as Workers Compensation and 401k.
  • Provide ad-hoc support and services on special projects and implementations as needed.
  • Provide ad-hoc coverage and support on international payroll as needed.

Were looking for someone with:

  • 7 years of end-to-end payroll processing including companies with 1800 employees.
  • US payroll subject matterexpertise strong understanding of payroll processes best practices and thorough knowledge of payroll-related state legal tax and compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills needed tointerfaceandestablishrapport with all levels of theorganizationincluding executive team members.
  • A proactive high-energy approach with exceptional management skills and meticulous attention to detail to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Knowledge of equity issues and how they relate to multi-state payroll reporting and tax (RSU NQ ISO)
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables lookups).
  • Experience/certification preferred but notrequired:
  • CPP
  • Payroll accounting
  • SOX compliance and considerations

  • Additionalconsideration given to candidates with:
  • International payroll experience including Canada EMEA and/or APAC to support our international team with payroll review and reconciliations.
  • Payroll systems implementation experience
  • UKG Pro experience including system configuration maintenance and optimization.
  • Experience in building payroll processes and internal controls in a fast-paced environment.

What youll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $116000 to $178000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors including but not limited to location education skills training and experience.
