Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist
FULL TIME - DAYS
The Ultrasound department also known as Sonography specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the bodys internal structures.
Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy.
Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver kidneys gallbladder and pancreas.
Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities.
Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots blockages or circulation issues in veins and arteries.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries joint abnormalities and fluid collections.
Job Description:
An ultrasound technologist (also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer) plays a critical role in a hospital setting by performing diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment. Heres a detailed breakdown of their responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation under the direction of Director of Radiology and Radiologist.
- Assist Radiologist with patient during examinations and procedures.
- Participates in CQI activities and provides input for improvement.
- Replenish supplies.
- Assures safe operation and daily maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
- Must pass initial competency test and yearly competency testing thereafter.
- Occasionally performs duties of Staff Radiologic Technologist and assumes other duties as necessary assigned by the Director of Radiology.
- Must maintain current BLS.
Essential Qualifications:
- Must be a Radiologic Technologist with a current Kentucky certification
- Must be a registered ultrasound technologist (ARDMS) or be registry eligible
- BLS required.
