UG Wash Bay Technician, Temporary

As our Mobile Maintenance Wash Bay Technician you will inspect and wash all mobile equipment prior to service and repairs at a remote mine to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will ride a boat to work at a mine on an island about 18 miles outside of Juneau Alaska. The majority of your average workday consists of washing equipment and maintaining the cleanliness of wash bay and shop areas. To thrive in this role you are a self-starter with an interest in maintenance who strives to complete projects in a consistent manner. Were on a remote island you must know how to work independently identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

The Greens Creek Mine located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989 employing over 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company headquartered in Coeur dAlene Idaho. Established in 1891 Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Heres what you can expect in this role:

• Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. We also provide department-level training on not just what to do but safety as well.
• You will inspect and wash all mobile equipment prior to service and repairs
• You will focus on safety work management equipment reliability performance management and promoting a team environment between mobile maintenance and other work groups.
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisors.
• Clean machines and sweep vehicle floors.
• You have a knack for productive communication cooperation productivity initiative creativity dependability. The position requires a high degree of positive interaction with all employees.
• Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before work starts. You will promote and personally observe safety procedures.
• A team you can rely on a team that will have your back.
