Travel Mechanic Railcar

R.J. Corman Railroad Company has an immediate opening for aTravel Mechanic - Railcar to travel to various locations for work.

Responsibilities:

• Welding cutting and mechanical type repairs
• Forklift operation
• Understanding of documenting work performed and recording material usage
• Ensure that paperwork for railcar repairs is complete and correct
• Ensure that repair jobs are completed in a timely manner
• Ensure that vehicles and shops are kept clean & safe
• Ensure that the employees are working in a safe manner
• Assist with inspection and repairs as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge or Education and Experience:

Mechanical experience preferred must have good communication and people skills with demonstrated ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel in achieving our goals.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform physical strenuous work
• Able to frequently bend stoop kneel and crouch
• Requires constant standing walking climbing stairs and ladders and balancing in a safe manner
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs
• Perform a rapid horizontal hand torque action with a force of 100 lbs
• Travel Required 80% of time

Environmental Conditions: Outside in all elements.
