ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Transit Driver operates a public transit vehicle to transport passengers along designated routes and schedules assists passengers with boarding and exiting as needed operates wheelchair lifts and ramps and collects fares. The Transit Driver communicates with the dispatcher supervisors and other transit personnel by radio maintains assigned routes and schedules and provides passengers with basic information about routes stops schedules transfers and transit services performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections and performs other assigned duties.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma or GED; valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate passenger endorsement; previous experience operating a bus commercial vehicle or other large passenger vehicle is preferred.
