Job Summary

Summary

The Training Coordinator provides support in the safe and efficient operation of the vast andcomplex network of systems required for the worlds largest air traffic control and navigationsystem. Manages the non-technical training program which includes administrative hazardousmaterial logistics managerial office automation safety and human relations courses.


Duties

Performs multiple varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a managerproject/program manager team leader or more experienced professional. May act as a contributingspecialist on large work activities or as a project manager or team leader for largeprojects/programs/activities. Maintains advanced knowledge of FAA training requirements policiesand processes. Identifies plans and organizes available resources to accomplish projects/programsand activities. Ensures all prerequisite training enrollment and pre-course counseling forms are completedin a timely manner. Consults with managers to identify training needs translate theminto training opportunities and make recommendations on areas needing improvement.

Applies experience and comprehensive knowledge to plan and accomplish assignments. Assignmentsfrequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational assignments may include: providing guidance to less-experienced professionals; leadingsmall project/program teams; designing and recommending solutions to complex problems; preparingand reviewing management reports and/or contractual documents; and developing and recommendingimprovements to systems and/or processes to improve operational efficiency.

Assists with developing comprehensive training material for non-technical training required to meetcurrent needs which cannot be satisfied by training available from within the FAA computer-basedinstruction mode or out-of-agency. Reviews evaluates advises tracks and reports to managementemployees training and certification status on systems and services that support the NationalAirspace System (NAS). Ensures management is kept apprised of the organizations non-technical andtechnical training needs and trends.

Contacts are internal and external. May act as a point of contact to provide advice and guidance onthe applications of policies and procedures. May be called upon to communicate FAA positions onpolicies and procedures internally and externally. Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allows for discretionfor incumbent to select the most appropriate approach or develop new approach(es) for application and/or consideration by management. Assignments regularly require interpretations of internal and external policies and extrapolations from precedents.

Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager project/programmanager team leader or more experienced professional. Develops and recommends approaches toaddress current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management and/or more experiencedprofessionals to solve problems. Work is rarely reviewed typically through status reports and at project completion to ensurepolicy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.

Qualifications

Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level (FV-H FG/GS-12) that is typically in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform in this position. To be creditable specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Specialized experience is reviews evaluates advises employees training and certification status on systems.

The person selected for this position may be required to file a financial disclosure statement within 30 days of entry on duty. FAA policy limits certain outside employment and financial investments in aviation-related companies. Requirement: Moderate Risk (5). This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment unless a waiver is obtained. Subject to a 5 year period reinvestigation.
