Job Responsibilities:

To lead direct and support Press Tool & Die employees safely and efficiently to coordinate and communicate with other departments follow safe work methods and to conform to the Employees Charter principles and plant standards.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

Responsible for leading the team to provide technical support to ensure tooling meets equipment efficiencies. Provide effective leadership to the team while promoting the Employees Charter and Charter Principles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies. Understand and promote Magnas philosophies (Magna Operational Principles Corporate Constitution and Employees Charter). Ensure daily pre-shift inspections are completed and conduct planned inspection audits on each shift Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuation routes correcting any safety concerns immediately Within 24 hours of an accident/incident complete accident investigations identifying root cause and corrective action Conduct weekly safety talks in pre-shift meetings and ensure employees sign safety training roster. Fills in for Team Members that need to temporarily leave the line (emergency bathroom break etc.) Follow and ensure that employees comply with all operational/procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs and conduct Team Safety Talks as required. Immediately attend to all accidents and injuries and initiate the accident and injury investigation while following up to ensure procedure implementation and completion. Utilize interactive management principles when implementing corrective discipline procedures in dealing with employees encourage professional development to enhance team performance and cross train to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacations and absences Provide timely coaching counseling and feedback to employees through one-on-one sessions performance evaluations and regular team meetings to ensure fulfillment of policies practices and procedures Schedule supervise coordinate and direct the activities of employees and equipment to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met. Ensure a quality product (measuring tools part inspection and fixtures) and know the quality procedures. Promote teamwork maintain accurate paperwork/production reports to facilitate shift to shift transitions verify that finished products are stored properly and develop set-up procedures Participate/initiate continuous improvements and take advantage of cost reduction opportunities. Participate and implement Lean activities as they are introduced such as 5S Kanban PDCAs and Standardized work. Ensure the improvement of Press Department KPIs by participating in the tracking and enhancement measures that are implemented. Support company and customer quality systems continuous improvement and lean manufacturing process Take daily line UPS/Carry over/PMs/Red tag issues/Follow ECN and tooling improvement Assist toolmakers in decisions on tool repair and ensure the work is being done in a timely manner Maintain TPM of all tooling and make sure all tooling is ready to meet press schedules Maintain open communication and provide continued support with other departments with any changes problems or special projects Perform other duties as required

-Must be able to convert metrics to standard procedures

-Must be able to initiate productivity improvements

-Ability to use all tool room equipment and measuring tools

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Some of the physical demands of this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds standing and walking for extended periods of time and occasional bending or stooping.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED

Some of the equipment and tolls used are mics calipers mills lathes drills welders various hand tools crane band saw cut off saw heat treat equipment tow motor and computer.

KNOWLEDGE

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; 2-year degree from a technical college with an emphasis in Tool & Die or equivalent experience

TECHNICAL TRAINING: Tool & Die Apprenticeship preferred CAD/Blueprint reading

OTHER: Computer skills; Basic Microsoft Word and Excel
