Tool Builder

Location: Auburn Hills MI
Shift: Day Shift
Job Type: Contract / Long-Term Opportunity

This position will focus on building assembling fitting and modifying tooling and automation components from mechanical prints and engineering drawings. Candidates should have hands-on experience working in a machine build tooling fixture or automation environment.

• Build tooling fixtures and mechanical assemblies from prints and drawings
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints assembly drawings and engineering prints
• Fit assemble align and adjust tooling components
• Perform drilling tapping grinding filing and other manual fitting operations
• Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Install and assemble components such as locating pins clamps brackets stops and tooling details
• Troubleshoot fitment and mechanical issues during the build process
• Make modifications and adjustments to tooling as required
• Work closely with machine builders engineers and other skilled trades
• Ensure tooling is assembled accurately and meets customer specifications

• Previous Tool Maker Machine Builder Die Maker or Automation Tooling experience
• Strong ability to build from prints
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings
• Experience with precision measuring tools including calipers micrometers indicators and gauges
• Experience with hand and power tools used in machine/tooling assembly
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical problems
