Job Summary
Primary Purpose:
To assist in the growth and development of TexBuy to meet the needs of Region 16 Education Service Center (ESC) clients.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Bachelors Degree required (minimum of 4 years of professional sales experience may be substituted for degree)
Skills
- Proven work experience as a sales representative preferred
- Must provide friendly customer service to clients
- Must be highly motivated and target driven
- Excellent sales communication and negotiation skills required
- Must possess outstanding skills in prioritizing time management and organization
- Required ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to audience needs
- Demonstrated ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgement in arriving at conclusions
- Must be able to travel frequently
- Must have own transportation to travel short distances between ESC facilities as needed
- Valid state-issued drivers license required
Working Conditions:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
- Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
- Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
- Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)
- Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate occasional regionwide and statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
- Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
- Regular Attendance is an essential function
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Attends eight to ten out-of-region tradeshows annually. Assists with event coordination event staffing customer relations and vendor relations for TexBuy at each tradeshow
- Engages other Region departments to promote TexBuy in their daily interactions with school districts
- Makes inquiries about school budgets and purchase plans with which TexBuy can assist
- Promotes TexBuy and its association with the national purchasing cooperative Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA)
- Continually grows the TexBuy Program while increasing membership numbers and membership use
- Organizes and hosts vendor fairs and vendor attendance at other events such as PSLA
- Organizes and hosts lunch-and-learns for key school personnel
- Attends Superintendent and Business Manager meetings TASBO Purchasing meetings and other meetings as needed
- Assists potential TexBuy members with understanding and completing the necessary steps in becoming a TexBuy member
- Assists potential TexBuy vendors with understanding and completing the necessary steps in becoming a TexBuy vendor
- Researches bonds and grants that school districts have submitted or passed
- Makes appointments and visits TexBuy members and vendors weekly
- Increases TexBuy membership by engaging non-TexBuy members
- Makes recommendations for TexBuy marketing promotional giveaway merchandise and attendance at additional tradeshows
- Establishes communication links with TexBuy member contacts
- Maintains member and vendor records call sheets databases/spreadsheets and meets required deadlines
- Exhibits attention to detail organization flexibility and problem-solving skills in the performance of responsibilities
- Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the supervisor. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged activated messages checked and mailbox emptied regularly
- Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
- Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region
- Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
- Supports the mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
- Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures
- Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
- Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
- Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
- Performs other duties as assigned
