ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riversides Human Resources Temporary Assistant Program (TAP) seeks a Temporary Mail Clerk to support Riverside University Health System - Medical Center (RUHS-MC) in Riverside California.
Under general supervision the incumbent will perform a variety of clerical and manual tasks in the receipt processing and delivery of mail and packages generated by County offices; do other work as required and are responsible for independently carrying out mail room functions and procedures with minimal assistance. Incumbents may have frequent public contact which requires them to have excellent customer service skills.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM

TAP
The Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) recruits and hires temporary employees for all County departments. TAP assignments are a great way to learn about working for the County while working on a temporary at-will basis.TAP Benefits: OF ESSENTIAL DUTIESSorts weighs and determines means of mail delivery for outgoing mail and packages; assigns required charges for and meters U.S. mail; throws presorts bundles labels and trays mail by zip code in order to prepare mail for U.S. mail pick-up or drop.
Operates maintains and monitors postage metering machines in the metering of first and third class U.S. mail; completes postal forms for residual U.S. mail and delivers the form with the residual and presorted mail.
Monitors the collection and delivery of packages by United Parcel Service and other private mail carriers and informs appropriate County departments of relevant deliveries.
May assist in the mechanical adjustment of postal equipment; may be responsible for the pick-up and delivery of registered and certified mail for the County; may assist in training new staff members.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: One year of experience in general clerical work.
Knowledge of: The operation and maintenance of office equipment associated with postal work; rules regulations and procedures pertaining to the U.S. Postal Service United Parcel Service and other private mail services.
Ability to: Sort mail quickly and accurately by zip code and by County department; handle and account for mail valuable property and documents; lift move and carry heavy mail trays and packages; stand or walk for long periods of time; learn the County Messenger Service policies and procedures; perform basic arithmetic computations; keep simple records; establish and maintain cooperative relations with the public and employees; follow oral and written directions.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
