The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) IT Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Telecomm Technician to work in Miami Florida.

The Telecomm Technician provides support for fiber optic and copper cabling and for the wireless infrastructure of the medical center and its remote sites in support of the Universitys clinical research educational and administrative activities. The individual in this position assists with IT related projects including the installation of network equipment access points and antennas.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Installs troubleshoots and repairs telecommunication equipment and data and voice cabling including voice over IP equipment cabling for fiber-optic and cable TV and UPS.

  • Assembles telecommunications racks and wire management.

  • Assembles and deploys uninterrupted power supplies.

  • Performs the installation troubleshooting configuration and repair of network communication equipment according to written and graphic specifications.

  • Conducts routine maintenance of network equipment supporting Universitys network data systems.

  • Utilizes test equipment in the analysis and correction of technical problems for data communication lines and equipment.

  • Interacts with other departments to obtain technical specifications concerning job sites and requirements.

  • Provides analysis relays results and offers support to assure proper escalation during periods of substandard system performance or outages.

  • Advises supervisor or senior personnel of network failures or degradation and assists in the modification or correction of the same.

  • Completes work order incidents.

  • Maintains documentation for wiring and devices.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience certification or license

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required

  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures technologies and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software technology and relevant computer applications.

  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education experience and/or certifications may be considered.
