Telecom Project Engineer

AtkinsRealis is seeking aTelecom Project Engineerto join our team inTallahassee FL. This position will require a minimum of 14 years of experience with Electrical Communications or Computer Engineering. The role will include providing engineering support tasks embedded at client office with other AtkinsRéalis team members in Tallahassee FL.

• Designs and develops scopes of work plans and drawings. Assignments may include microwave communications networks fiber optic systems IP/MPLS networking electrical power systems equipment shelters HVACs lightning protection systems and grounding emergency generators DC power systems uninterruptible power supplies electronic entry systems video surveillance systems network management systems.
• Organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work which have a well-defined scope.
• Outlines and prepares relatively straightforward reports of sections of more complex reports working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional.
• Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction procedures under the guidance of a more experienced professional and evaluates the results from quality control testing.
• Researches feasibility of alternative design approaches site conditions and regulatory agency specifications.
• Prepares preliminary man-hour cost and material quantity estimates.
• Participates in quality control checks maintaining quality standards in all work produced checking computations and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
• Performs field observations of construction and system integration activities where appropriate.
• Performs field inspections of existing systems to assess condition.
• Prepare and make presentations to staff and client.
• Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Education and experience :

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Communications or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university. This level may be achieved by Engineers with 2 years experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years experience since Bachelors degree.

Professional registrations:

• E.I. or EIT is required. Professional Engineer is desired.

Special Skills:

• Word Excel PowerPoint skills required.
• Technical drawing (CAD MicroStation Visio or equivalent) skills required.
• Technical writing computer and communications skills required.

Expected compensation range is between $85000 - $135000 annually depending on skills experience and geographical location.
