TECHNICAL WRITING INTERN
Brief Job Description:
- The Technical Writing Intern is responsible for researching writing and editing customer-facing documentation including user manuals and quick installation guides. The intern will support Senior Writers across various business units with a particular focus on the Thermal Business Unit. This role requires building and maintaining positive relationships with global business units product lines other departments and OEM customers with specific needs. Under guided supervision and sometimes with limited product specifications the intern will manage both local and remote documentation projects from start to finish.
Responsibilities and Measurement Criteria with Time Investment Needed on Each:
The Technical Writing Intern will perform the following functions with guided supervision:
- Write and edit various product documentation for advanced technology products according to established standards styles and guidelines.
- Proactively research and gather technical information by interviewing engineers and other technical personnel to ensure clarity completeness accuracy and quality of the documents.
- Assemble documentation in the correct Vertiv or OEM format maintaining consistent structure content and organization in accordance with established standards and styles.
- Manage complex project schedules while meeting all assigned documentation deadlines.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required/ Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelors degree (or higher) in technical writing professional writing digital communications journalism or English.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with AI technology in the technical writing field.
- Strong interpersonal communication and editing skills with a high attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the desire to be a team player and support team goals and mission.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced international team environment with multiple deadlines multiple time zones limited resources and constant change.
Additional / Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with style sheets style guides and editing processes.
- Experience with the following programs: Adobe Acrobat Pro DC Adobe InDesign and Madcap Flare (or equivalent experience with another single-source desktop publishing tool).
