Technical Specialist, Lab

Under the supervision of the Manager Post Analytical Lab provides technical expertise and acts as resource for entire laboratory in specialty area. Responsible for reviewing of test results and functions as a specialist in a Laboratory Medicine discipline e.g. send outs toxicology testing point of care testing coagulation etc. Responsible for QC training updating Quality Control summaries and writing and revising procedures. Collaborates with managers supervisors pathologists supervisors nursing service and the laboratory director on laboratory issues regarding patient care.

- Require Bachelors degree in a health science program or medical technology (employees hired prior to 1/1/09 were grandfathered into this position).
- Require qualification as an ASCP AMT NCA or an equivalent medical technologist.
- Require current technologist license.
- Require a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the specialty area of the clinical laboratory.

- Prefer supervisor licensure under Chapter 483 Part IV Florida Statute 61F-5.
- Prefer demonstrated effective communication and listening skills.
- Prefer demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities at once.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and problems as they arise in the section.
