Position Summary:

The Office of Global Engagement at the University of Northern Colorado invites applications to teach the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) component of the 2026 Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by IREX the Fulbright TEA Program is a six-week professional development program that brings experienced international secondary school educators to the United States to strengthen instructional practice educational leadership and cross-cultural understanding. The EFL component provides targeted language support that enhances participants success throughout the academic program field experience and professional collaborations.

The successful candidate will develop and deliver approximately 27 hours of instruction focused on academic English writing professional communication English language teaching pedagogy and instructional strategies for multilingual classrooms. Participants will represent a range of English proficiency levels requiring differentiated instruction and individualized language support.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to adult learners and a strong understanding of English language teaching pedagogy in international educational contexts.

This temporary position will last from September 1 through October 31.

Job Duties:

Design and teach approximately 27 contact hours of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction during the six-week Fulbright TEA Program.
Develop and maintain the course in Canvas prior to participant arrival including course materials assignments and instructional resources.
Deliver engaging student-centered instruction emphasizing:
o Academic English writing
o Professional communication for educators
o English language teaching pedagogy
o Student-centered instructional methodologies
o Cross-cultural communication
o Educational technology to support language learning
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of participants with varying English proficiency and TOEFL scores.
Provide individualized language support and constructive feedback to participants throughout the program.
Facilitate collaborative learning through discussions presentations demonstrations peer learning and reflective activities.
Collaborate with the Fulbright TEA Program Director to ensure the EFL curriculum complements the broader academic program.
Participate in planning meetings and maintain regular communication with program leadership.
Prepare a course syllabus instructional materials and participant assessments consistent with program objectives.
Submit final course materials and participant evaluations at the conclusion of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in TESOL Applied Linguistics English Education Linguistics or a closely related field.
TESOL/TEFL certification or equivalent professional experience teaching English language learners.
Experience teaching English language learners in adult or higher education settings.
Experience teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) or English as a Second Language (ESL).
Experience using Canvas or another learning management system.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for learners with varying English proficiency levels.
Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in TESOL Applied Linguistics ESL/EFL English Education or a related field.
Experience supporting multilingual educators or international professionals.
Experience teaching English abroad or working in an international educational setting.
