STERIS On Location Team Lead role is a senior technical contributor and operational leader responsible for performing advanced surgical instrument repairs coordinating daily service execution and supporting technician development. This role combines hands on technical repair work training execution and Customer facing operational leadership to ensure a safe compliant and highquality delivery of surgical instrument repair and Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) services.

In addition to leading daily workflow and serving as a technical escalation point the Team Lead acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for PMIs and Customer engagement activities. This includes supporting quarterly business reviews (QBRs) Customer in services and education PMI program execution surgical instrument tray audits and targeted operational improvement (blitz) initiatives. The Team Lead also serves as a liaison between Customers and the repair operations team during new Customer onboarding service implementation and PMI optimization efforts.

This role does not have direct people management authority (hire/terminate/discipline) but plays a critical role in influencing Repair Technician performance executing training plans maintaining technical standards and strengthening Customer partnerships in collaboration with the Area Service Manager (ASM) Sales and other stakeholders.

This is a safety sensitive position.

What You Will Do As A Team Lead On Location

  • Youll perform advanced surgical instrument repair and refurbishment work including complex and highrisk repairs to manufacturer and Customer specifications while maintaining required productivity and quality standards.
  • Responsible for monitoring daily workflow and service execution proactively addressing bottlenecks PMI scheduling gaps quality risks or documentation delays while escalating to Area Service Manager as appropriate.
  • You will provide hands on troubleshooting support and repair recommendations to Repair Technicians IIV and leveraging Repair Technicians IV SME expertise as needed.
  • Execute and support Repair Technician training and skill development including onboarding coordination on the job training reinforcement of standard work and skills matrix tracking in partnership with the Area Service Manager (training ownership remains with them and IMS training governance).
  • You will support Customer operational assessments including participation in tray audits PMIdriven tray evaluations scheduling support and truck/mobile lab audits to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Ensure documentation billing support and end of day reporting (OAR) are completed accurately and consistently and promotes adherence to safety policies PPE use and completion of safety observations

The Experience Skills and Abilities Needed

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have six (6) years of relevant experience five (5) of those being in surgical instrument repair
  • Demonstrated advanced surgical instrument repair experience typically aligned with Repair Technician III or IV capability with the ability to perform complex repairs independently
  • Experience executing training and technical coaching in a field or lab environment including onboarding and skill reinforcement
  • Must have previous experience supporting Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) programs and interpreting PMI findings
  • Previous experience participating in Customer facing operational activities such as QBRs in services onboarding audits and/ or improvement initiatives
  • Strong working knowledge of documentation billing support PMI related reporting and OAR requirements
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules based on Customer and business needs
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and push instrument carts ranging from 100-150 pounds at times
  • Must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record (CDL not required) and maintain required vaccines
  • Must be able to pass a DOT medical/ physical exam comply with all DOT regulations and conduct basic box truck safety checks
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years old with ability to achieve and maintain FMCSA and drivers license requirements

Pay range for this opportunity is 26.56 - 34.38.This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors including but not limited to local labor market costs years of relevant experience education professional certifications foreign language fluency etc.
