SEEM Collaborative Hurd Program is a separate special education setting located at The Ripley School in Melrose. It serves students in grades K-5 with emotional behavioral social and/or learning needs that affect their ability to learn in a general education setting.
Opportunities for direct instruction to students and individual supervision/mentorship around behavior management therapeutic learning and curriculum development/lesson implementation. This is a great stepping stone for someone who is looking to be an elementary teacher special education teacher and/or school counselor in the future.

Scope of Duties:
Responsible to and functions under the direction of the classroom Teacher.
Assists the teacher in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of the IEP Goals and objectives.
Assists the teacher in implementing classroom and individual behavior management systems to ensure the safety of students in all environments.
Assists in facilitating independence social awareness language and appropriate behavior.
Assists the teacher in the collection of data.
Participates in training in relevant areas.
Carries out other assigned duties for example; supervise student(s) at lunch or in the playground; personal care support such as toileting self-care clerical tasks etc. as assigned by the classroom teacher program principal or executive director.
Must be able to lift pull or push approximately 40 lbs. and have the ability to move quickly from standing to floor and floor to standings.
Must be willing to work with verbally and/or physically aggressive students.
Must be friendly professional able to collaborate with colleagues able to remain calm in high-stress situations and able to accept and utilize constructive feedback.
Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
