Job Summary
Job Summary
Serves as liaison between exceptional student education department and schools providing direct services for students with disabilities. Provides support services and/or technical assistance to ensure appropriate placement and special education services. Provides input in specific exceptional student categories for proper identification and needed assessments. Assists in developing training modules program planning implementation of curriculum and progress monitoring to measure student progress.
Exceptional Student Education Positions

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Masters degree preferred.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in exceptional student education. Experience in gifted exceptional education preferred.
Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education certification in Exceptional Student Education.
The minimum qualifications for the remaining school-based ESE positions are listed in the chart below.

ESE Certified Behavior Analyst | Three (3) years successful teaching or work experience with students on the autism spectrum and/or students with behaviorally complex needs. Experience with special education and related services for students with disabilities. | Board certification as a Behavior Analyst AND Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education Guidance and Counseling or School Psychology. Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement preferred. |
ESE Intervention Representative | Five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in exceptional student education or a combination of exceptional/regular education teaching experience. Background in behavior management techniques is strongly recommended. | Florida Department of Education certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education Administration/Supervision or Educational Leadership. |
ESE Lead | Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities | Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area. |
ESE Site Coach | Three (3) years experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities/Autism. | Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education (for Autism positions Autism certification or endorsement required) and one area of a core content area or K-6 Certification. |
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of exceptional student education
Knowledge of federal state and district legislation policies specifically related to exceptional student education operations
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in exceptional student education
Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong word processing spreadsheet and presentation software skills
Strong time management skills
Strong creative problem solving skills
Ability to develop and revise district procedures for exceptional student programs
Ability to develop and implement in-service training for teachers therapists and other staff
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to facilitate meetings effectively
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers principals and parents
Ability to propose strategies and activities to address student academic behavioral and social needs
