Job Summary

SUMMARY:

Assist theHeadChoirDirector withmanaging thechoirprogram at assigned campus. Provide students withappropriate learningactivities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth andprovidean opportunity toparticipatein extracurricularband. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

InstructionalStrategies

  • Assistwith the instruction and leadershipofchoir students conduct and lead the choirprovidemusical guidance conduct auditions and guide students with achieving correcttone pitch rhythm tempo and harmony. Lead a vocal ensemble or solo performance.
  • Assistwith the performance requirements enforce academic requirements and verify each students eligibility toparticipateinchoir.
  • Assistwith the choir participation at extracurricular events including concerts and UIL.
  • Assistwith the coordination ofsuitable choir formations rehearsals competitions routines and performances.
  • Plan and useappropriate instructionaland learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Present subject matter according to guidelinesestablishedby the Texas Education Agency(TEA)Board policies andAdministrativeRegulations.
  • Work cooperatively withSpecialEducationTeachers tomodifycurricula as needed for special education students according to guidelinesestablishedin Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work with other members of the staff todetermineinstructional goalsobjectives and methods according toDistrict requirements.
  • Developandimplementlessonplansforin-personlearningthatfulfilltherequirementsofDistricts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation asrequired.
  • Preparelessonsthatreflectaccommodationsfordifferencesinindividualstudentdifferences.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructionalactivities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • BachelorsDegreefromanaccrediteduniversity

  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate inAll Level Music

  • Demonstrated competency in instrumental music

  • Currentautomatedexternaldefibrillator(AED)and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate

Experience:

  • Studentteachingapprovedinternshiporrelated workexperience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music program
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
  • Ability to develop budgets and manage funds

  • Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills
