Job Summary

Most high-net-worth tax opportunities still revolve around managing compliance deadlines reviewing returns and getting through the next busy season.

This one gives you a much bigger seat at the table.

Were partnering with a sophisticated national advisory firm that is expanding its New York tax practice and looking for an experienced tax professional to work directly with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

Youll still own technically complex tax work but the role goes well beyond compliance. Youll advise clients throughout the year develop planning strategies work alongside their broader wealth management teams and become someone clients are comfortable calling directly when an important tax or financial decision comes up.

The team is growing the opening is a priority and theyre looking for someone who combines strong HNW technical tax expertise with the polish and judgment to become a trusted client advisor.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Prepare and review complex individual income tax returns including significant multi-state activity
  • Develop quarterly tax projections estimated payments and extension strategies
  • Prepare and review trust gift partnership corporate and private foundation returns
  • Advise HNW clients on tax matters throughout the year rather than only during filing season
  • Support planning involving investment income liquidity required minimum distributions cash flow and other individual tax considerations
  • Handle foreign tax reporting and other complex individual filing requirements
  • Research sophisticated tax issues and translate findings into practical recommendations
  • Respond to federal and state notices and assist with tax examinations
  • Work directly with clients and coordinate with members of their broader wealth management teams
  • Participate in special projects requiring deeper analysis and technical judgment
  • Build long-term client relationships and take meaningful ownership of service delivery

What Were Looking For

  • CPA required
  • 7 years of HNW individual income tax experience
  • Significant preparation and review experience
  • Strong technical background in complex individual taxation and tax planning
  • Experience with multi-state individual returns
  • Exposure to trusts gifts investment partnerships/entities and private foundations
  • Ability to develop and explain sophisticated tax planning strategies
  • Strong client-facing presence and polished written/verbal communication skills
  • Someone genuinely curious about tax and motivated to continue developing technically
  • Ability to manage multiple complex clients and deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Experience with CCH Axcess Tax and tax planning/research technology
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with wealth management and other outside advisors

Dedicated family office experience is not required. Candidates coming from strong HNW/private client practices are encouraged to apply.
