Job Summary:
The System Administrator II provides operational administration maintenance and support for enterprise applications cloud-hosted services databases and related technology systems that support the academic and administrative functions of California State University San Bernardino. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the reliability security availability and performance of assigned systems through configuration monitoring troubleshooting upgrades and vendor coordination. Working collaboratively with Information Technology Services staff campus departments and external vendors the position supports the implementation and ongoing operation of enterprise and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions. The position also provides technical support documentation and system administration services to ensure efficient and effective delivery of technology services to the campus community.
Responsibilities:
- Administer maintain monitor and support enterprise and departmental applications servers databases and cloud-hosted services used by the campus community. Responsibilities include installation configuration patching upgrades troubleshooting backup coordination security maintenance vendor coordination and operational support.
- Administer and support systems including but not limited to Adobe Sign NCS scanning solutions Facilities Management systems SimpleK SMS/Vanderbilt key systems Sunbelt control systems WebTMA and other enterprise applications.
- Provide administrative and operational support for hosted and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms including Qualtrics Gradescope Microsoft 365 Intune Google and other campus-supported cloud services.
- Manage system configurations user access licensing security settings integrations updates and vendor-support activities.
- Collaborate with campus technical staff and vendors to implement upgrades resolve operational issues test new releases and maintain system reliability availability and security.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures for supported systems.
- Provide operational administration and maintenance support for the campus weather station infrastructure and associated website. Responsibilities include performing routine updates monitoring system availability applying security patches coordinating repairs and maintaining system documentation.
- Participate in the planning implementation testing and deployment of technology projects related to enterprise applications hosted services and administrative systems.
- Coordinate with campus departments Information Technology Services (ITS) teams and vendors to support system enhancements migrations upgrades and process improvements.
- Assist with data imports exports integrations and system configuration activities required to support campus business operations.
- Evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency maintainability and service reliability through upgrades automation and standardization.
- Provide technical support for enterprise and hosted applications by troubleshooting system issues managing user accounts and permissions resolving service requests and coordinating issue resolution with vendors and campus technical teams.
- Drive a campus golf cart as needed to access campus locations for the installation maintenance and support of system infrastructure in accordance with CSUSB operational requirements.
- Create and maintain user documentation knowledge-base articles and support materials for supported applications and services.
- Perform other classification-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Equivalent to a bachelors degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of operating systems server administration scripting languages virtualization technologies and cloud technologies and related system administration concepts principles and technologies.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting hardware and software issues and providing technical support.
- Working knowledge of applications programming techniques and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills to plan organize and manage multiple time sensitive assignments and smaller projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present technical information to technically diverse audiences in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate monitor and resolve systems issues and design develop and implement systems solutions.
- Skill in leading the work of others.
- Proficiency in using applicable software server and system technologies and programs.
- Knowledge of higher education policies data needs and data privacy regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of related experience.
- Knowledge of on-premises cloud-based SaaS and hosted enterprise systems.
- Experience administering servers applications databases integrations user accounts and access controls.
- Knowledge of system security patching vulnerability remediation backups disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Ability to monitor troubleshoot and resolve complex system application integration and access issues.
- Knowledge of ITIL change control project implementation vendor support and software licensing.
- Ability to manage multiple technology platforms and projects while meeting deadlines.
- Strong technical judgment problem-solving communication customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply applicable privacy security and accessibility requirements including ADA HIPAA FERPA and Sections 504 and 508.
- Ability to collaborate with campus departments technical teams vendors and stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
- Availability to support after-hours maintenance upgrades testing and emergencies as needed.
- Higher education technology experience is highly desired.
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.
Initial salary step placement will be Step 1 - $6492 per month for qualified candidates.
CSU Classification Salary Step Range: $6492 - $9458 per month (Step 1 Step 20)

Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am 5:00 pm) some evenings/weekends.
Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm) some evenings/weekends.

Conditions of Employment
Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
