Job Summary

Kalman & Company is seeking to hire an experienced Syste Architect to support a government client at an onsite position in Edgewood MD. This position is funded. The salary range is $120K/yr-$145K/yr.

Role and Responsibilitiies:

  • Shall be the point of contact and workflow organizer for the team with respect to program architecture data workflows and integration with Command and Control systems.
  • Work with stakeholders leadership and subject matter experts to build a holistic view of the organizations data sharing and integration strategy processes information and assets.
  • This role shall function as the CPE CBRND program-level architect for the Biosurveillance Information Platform (BIP) providing an Enterprise solution that is scalable adaptable and in synchronization with the BIP capability needs statement.
  • Support the analysis of CPE CBRND capability gaps and overlaps while achieving the Enterprise mission.
  • Develop maintain and validate DODAF architectures for JPM CBRN IEW.
  • Utilize architecture products to identify system dependencies and potential capability gaps.
  • Develop Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF) architecture models in coordination with the program office and user sponsors such as Joint Requirements Office (JRO) Combatant Commands (CCMD) and/or individual service and non-DOD sponsors.
  • Work with JCPE CBRND program engineers in order to develop system-level architectures.
  • Ensure the DODAF architecture/data models are consistent with other CPE CBRND architecture models as well as Joint Staff Command and Control (J6) Warfighter Mission Area (WMA) architecture development guidance.
  • Develop architecture products to support acquisition documents (i.e. Capability Development Documents (CDDs) Capability Production Documents (CPDs) and Information Support Plans (ISPs)).
  • Provide comments and input to support program and contract documentation (i.e. Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs) Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs) Requests for Information (RFIs) Task Order Requests (TOR) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs)).
  • Participate in CPE CBRND Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) at the program and Enterprise level.
  • Translate high-level business features into specific data integration user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize data integration tasks within the product backlog. Ensure data dependencies do not block User Interface / User Experience (UI/UX) or backend development.
  • Define and update data models Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and Extract Transform Load / Extract Load Transform (ETL/ELT) pipelines to ensure they align with the overall system architecture.
  • Establish clear criteria for when a data integration task is complete (e.g. Data mapped tested and verifiable in the staging environment).
  • Act as the bridge between database administrators backend developers frontend developers and data scientists to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Oversee the creation of data mapping documents. Ensure data from disparate sources is accurately transformed to meet the target systems requirements.
  • Guide the design and implementation of APIs ensuring they expose the right data securely and efficiently.
  • Quickly identify and resolve any data silos access issues or format mismatches that threaten the sprint goals.
  • Implement automated data validation checks within the pipeline to catch anomalies duplicates or missing fields early.
  • Oversee the integration of database migrations and data pipeline updates into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Monitor data query performance and integration speeds. Identify bottlenecks and schedule optimization tasks for future sprints.
  • Establish protocols for handling data integration failures or synchronization issues in the production environment.
  • This position may require travel up to 20% Continental United States (CONUS).
  • Perform the following standard reporting requirements:
  • In-person architecture reviews as needed
  • Weekly touch point calls
  • Update status tracking systems as required
  • Monthly reports submitted in writing to discuss the status of deliverables work plans and issues

Minimum Requirements:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • An Active Secret Clearance is required.
  • Possess twelve (12) years of Software Development/Information Technology experience and eight (8) years of Software Architecture experience.
  • Possess at a minimum three (3) years of experience developing and maintaining one or more Department of Defense Acquisition Framework (DODAF) v2.0 data architecture products and/or Data Models within standard data modeling tools (ERStudio Erwin etc.).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of working experience with the UNICOM Systems Architect tool or No Magic Inc. MagicDraw Architect tool.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of working experience with either the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF) or The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience with Joint Common System Function List (JCSFL) Joint Common Architecture (JCA) Net- Ready Key Performance Parameter (NR KPP) Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) and National Information Exchange Model (NIEM).
