Duties and Responsibilities (NOTE: *denotes Essential Functions):

  1. *Manage and administer core Microsoft 365 services including Intune SharePoint Teams Exchange Online and other apps within the M365 ecosystem.*Administer Entra ID identity management conditional access policies role assignments (RBAC) and enterprise application integrations.
  2. *Maintain and optimize Entra ID security posture including Identity Protection Privileged Identity Management (PIM) Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and sign-in risk monitoring.
  3. *Architect deploy and manage Intune for enterprise device management across Windows macOS iOS/iPadOS and Android platforms.
  4. *Create test and maintain configuration profiles compliance policies security baselines and endpoint protection settings.
  5. *Package deploy patch and manage the lifecycle of enterprise applications via Intune/Windows Autopatch.
  6. *Design maintain and streamline modern OS deployment processes (e.g. Windows Autopilot Apple Business Manager).
  7. *Perform basic Windows Server administration tasks (Active Directory DNS DHCP Group Policy) required for hybrid identity and infrastructure environments.
  8. *Develop and maintain scripts and API automation for administrative tasks user provisioning and operational workflows in Microsoft Entra.
  9. *Monitor M365 tenant health service advisories feature updates and licensing allocations to optimize resource usage and costs.
  10. *Monitor system performance audit logs and security alerts across cloud and on-premises environments.
  11. *Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation related to M365 and Intune management.
  12. *Participate in incident response root-cause analysis and remediation planning for identity security or endpoint issues.
  13. *Provide technical support guidance documentation and escalation paths for M365 and Entra services to campus IT staff.
  14. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure alignment with organizational security policies compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
  15. Monitor higher education industry trends technological developments and emerging cloud/endpoint practices for potential adoption.
  16. *Follows and implements directives and guidance related to best practices from University of Hawaii System Information Technology Services.
  17. *Ensures the consistent adoption implementation and enforcement of recommendations issued through University of Hawaii System Information Technology Service.
  18. *Keeps abreast of recommendations issued through University of Hawaii System Information Technology Service and takes timely action as needed.
  19. *Continuously monitor and lead initiatives to enhance system reliability security and operational efficiency. Supervise and mentor IT staff to assure that administrative directives and industry best practices are understood and followed.
  20. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for Microsoft 365 and Entra ID management of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower pay band in the University of Hawaii broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology systems hardware and software associated with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes and apply principles and practices to determine evaluate integrate and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
  5. Proven ability to comprehend interpret and implement administrative directives and guidance to ensure IT operations align with organizational standards and industry best practices.
  6. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  7. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  8. If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.
  9. Strong understanding of IT service management cybersecurity principles risk management and compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining IT best practices standards and governance.
  10. Functional knowledge of managing Windows server operating systems and Active Directory.
  11. Functional knowledge of managing and maintaining device configuration and profiles with Microsoft Intune.
  12. Working knowledge of Windows PowerShell or Microsoft Graph API programming/scripting.
  13. Ability to speak read comprehend interpret and write fluently in English.
  14. Ability to learn and apply new technologies independently and in a timely manner using books manuals and other resources.
  15. Ability to work a variable work schedule; and work outside normally scheduled work hours including day night weekend and/or holiday hours as directed.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Experience and working knowledge of using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) for device and server configuration and management at an enterprise level.
  2. Experience and working knowledge of managing Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructure at an enterprise level.
  3. Experience and working knowledge of using Microsoft Purview for data governance and risk management.
  4. Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud and other cloud computing solutions such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
