Job Summary
The SURVEY TECHNICIAN works under general supervision of a registered land surveyor or management position and utilizes the principles and practices of surveying/engineering to gather analyze and monitor simple to moderately complex engineering-related data.
- Researches files retrieves reviews and/or prepares a variety of engineering maps documents records reports and correspondence
- Operates computer-aided design modeling and/or other application programs
- Locates utilities easements property lines and/or other information on plans
- Performs field investigations and/or inspections of existing conditions and new construction
- Collects compiles and/or analyzes data and field samples
- Assists in the preparation of program and project schedules
- Reviews drawings for conformance with established engineering standards
- Performs property-related research
- Provides technical or functional guidance to less experienced staff
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of surveying principles and practices; engineering design and construction practices; computer-aided design and other general engineering computer software application programs including spreadsheets and word processing is required
- High school diploma or GED required; Certificate of completion from an accredited Civil Engineering Technology or other related technical program preferred
- Minimum of 5 years equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Valid drivers license required - Must be insurable by fleet insurer driving history will be reviewed by agent and underwriter
- Must be able to pass a background check as required by military industrial port and other client sites.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines and standard accepted practices
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards
- Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.

- Regularly hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm.

- Frequently bend to file and maintain files.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 lbs
- Must be able to talk listen and speak clearly on telephone
