As our Certified Surgical Tech you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN bringing your certified expertise to keep the operating room organized sterile and ready for safe efficient surgical procedures.
Every day you will arrange and inventory sterile instruments equipment and supplies for surgical cases passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments equipment and rooms between cases.
To be successful in this role you will need current surgical technology certification strong attention to detail solid knowledge of sterile technique and the ability to stay calm and communicate effectively as part of a fast-paced surgical team.
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity indicators and opening procedures.
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation before incision is closed and as needed.
- Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeons preference card.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments supplies equipment and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
- Provides on-callcoverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
- Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case. Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.
Schedule: 10 hour shifts 0630-1700 4 days a week.
On-call requirements: One (1) evening call shift (1700-0600) a week AND One (1) weekend (Saturday and Sunday 0700-0700) a month.
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Completion of an approved Surgical Technician
program. - Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
- Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado.
- A person performing Surgical
Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license certification or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
- A person performing Surgical
- Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Preferred
- One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting
- Experience in a specialty field
