Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Certified Operating Room Technician (CST) is responsible for providing skilled technical support in the surgical services department assisting in neuro and other surgical procedures. The role includes preparing operating rooms sterilizing instruments and supporting the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care. Strong communication and flexibility to float between units are essential. Candidates with at least 3 years of experience and BLS certification are preferred.

Responsibilities:

Prepare operating rooms with necessary instruments equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
Assist surgical team during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields.
Ensure proper sterilization and handling of surgical instruments and equipment.
Support patient positioning and safety during surgical procedures.
Collaborate with nurses surgeons and other healthcare professionals to maintain efficient workflow.
Document and chart surgical activities using Epic or designated systems.
Float between units as required including Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies and infection control standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Minimum of 3 years surgical technologist experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to work in acute care hospital environment.
Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Neuro surgical experience.
Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
Flexibility to float between surgical units and hospitals.

Special Considerations:

May be required to float to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro.
Must adhere to hospital policies regarding submission of return to office (RTO) documentation at time of submittal.
