Job Summary
Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period all applicants will be considered equally.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Perioperative Surgical Physicians Assistant (PA)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide surgical assistance as part of a pool of surgical assistants including Physician Assistants Registered Nurse First Assistants and Nurse Practitioner/RNFA may also be assigned other patient-specific care within the scope of granted privileges to include but not limited to Physicians offices inpatient floors and Emergency Department. The PA/NP will report to and take direction as to work hours patient care assignments and non-patient-specific duties from the Director of Perioperative Services. When involved in patient specific care the PA/NP will be under the direct supervision of the surgeon of record for the patient. This position may involve participation in a call rotation for after-hours surgery assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. Eligible for licensure in NYS as a Certified Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner.
2. Three (3) years of clinical experience providing direct patient care is required. Clinical experience as a Certified Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner with RNFA is preferred.
3. ACLS required.
4. Experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner with RNFA will be considered first.
As applicable the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
