IOWA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD - TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION
This position is restricted to current Military members of the Iowa Army National Guard.

LOCATION: FMS 15 Middletown IA


Duties

As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN GSyour duties are below.

  1. Performs routine and nonroutine material coordination duties for special programs maintenance or production shops.
  2. Responsible for local management of decentralized and decontrolled items which requires technical intervention to assure effective supply support and economy. Items are less stable or standardized and do not lend themselves to routine control through the use of the computer and variable supply level formulas. Plans requirements both quantitative and monetary to satisfy customer needs. Authorizes procurement and is responsible for funds management.
  3. Responsible for limited aspects of storage management. May develop and install local procedures and techniques to achieve and maintain smooth effective and coordination storage operations.-

    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of this excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

    TRIAL PERIOD REQUIREMENT: As a condition of employment for accepting this position you will be required to serve a 2-year trial period or 1-year (Veterans Preference Eligibles Only) during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public determining if your employment advances the public interest we may consider:

    • Your performance and conduct.
    • The needs and interests of the agency.
    • Whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and
    • Whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.
    Upon completion of your trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification in writing that your continued employment advances the public interest.

    SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a clearance as required by this position. If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired application must be made within 30 days of the start date. Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination of employment.

    Failure to complete prescribed courses may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience education or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions requiring ability to decide course of action to take considering the circumstances or conditions encountered. Knowledge of basic or commonly applied rules procedures or operations such as filling out posting filing controlling or coding documents and/or transactions. Experience using computer and automation systems.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: GS-2005-7: Must have experience in the following:

    • 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade.
    • Knowledge of governing supply regulations policies procedures and instructions applicable to the specific assignment.
    • Experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies equipment and parts.
    • Experience performing various aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures where assignments include individual case problems related to segments in one or more major areas of supply management.
    • Experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports letters memoranda etc.
    • Experience coordinating with other organizations on complex and controversial supply issues.
    • Experience analyzing developing evaluating to improve supply programs policies procedures techniques etc.
    • Knowledge on the entire inventory management supply system. Experience providing advice and guidance on supply regulations to upper levels of management regarding supply functions.
    Education

    Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience -

    1 full year of graduate level education

    or

    superior academic achievement
