This position is part of the Government Publication Sales Government Publishing Office in Washington District of Columbia.
- Manages and controls supplies using warehouse management and inventory management systems.
- Works within a framework of established supply regulations policies and procedures or other governing supply guidelines.
- Utilizes systems techniques and underlying management concepts for determining regulating or controlling the level and flow of supplies from initial plan through acquisition storage related issues and utilization or disposal.
- Conducts various inventory reports; investigates and resolves discrepancies and provides results of those reports to supervision.
- Utilizes Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and similar Bar Code software to track and manage inventory
- U.S. Citizenship is Required
- Selectee must pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Non sensitive-low risk security clearance.
- Selectee must undergo a background investigation for a Suitability investigation.
- Physical Demands- Work requires walking and standing throughout the day. There will be bending reaching stooping stretching climbing and lifting while performing inventory duties.
- Physical Demands continued- Incumbent will be exposed to industrial equipment and dust Packages and boxes lifted may weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Working conditions- The majority of the work is performed in a warehouse setting with occasional work performed in file and storage rooms.
To qualify for the Supply Technician (Inventory) PGyou must meet the following requirements:
To qualify for the Supply Technician (Inventory) PGapplicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-05 level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private sector that includes: 1) Utilizing warehouse and inventory management systems to oversee stock control and reporting operations effectively; and 2) Maintaining purchasing and inventory records including preparing reports analyzing data and utilizing systems such as Excel spreadsheets; and 3) Identifying and resolving discrepancies using radio frequency identification (RFID) and similar barcode software to ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

For a Suitability:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation.
The selectee will work shift 1 6:30 am.- 3:00 pm.
