Job Summary

Global Logistics moves billions of units per year into Amazons fulfillment network managing $6B in annual transportation spend across truckload less-than-truckload intermodal and small parcel modes. The Domestic First Mile (DFM) Cost and Network Optimization team owns the strategy and execution for reducing inbound transportation costs while maintaining speed and reliability for vendors and sellers.

We are looking for a Supply Chain Manager to own carrier supply economics and cost optimization for our 1P (Amazon-managed) and 3P (partner carrier) transportation network. You will quantify cost impacts of network changes build analytical frameworks for carrier selection decisions and drive cross-functional actions that reduce cost and improve performance. This role requires someone who is comfortable working with large datasets translating analysis into business decisions and influencing partner teams across Amazon Freight Procurement Finance and Transportation Technology.

Key job responsibilities
- Own cost modeling and defect reporting for Amazon Freight (1P) truckload operations including cost prediction accuracy rate benchmarking vs. market indices and performance-based carrier evaluation
- Quantify financial impacts of network changes (e.g. cost allocation methodology shifts capacity constraints mode conversions) and recommend routing or procurement adjustments
- Analyze 1P vs. 3P carrier economics at the lane level to inform carrier selection logic and identify opportunities where cheaper or faster options are being suppressed
- Build and maintain carrier performance frameworks covering acceptance rates on-time pickup cost prediction errors and first-pass yield
- Partner with Procurement to improve bid strategy including target rate development off-cycle rebid triggers and volume commitment structures
- Investigate capacity events mode shifts and system-driven replans that create cost leakage and develop mechanisms to prevent recurrence
- Audit carrier deny lists primary carrier assignments and routing overrides to quantify cost of suboptimal carrier selection
- Support quarterly and annual planning cycles (Q3G OP1 OP2) with cost entitlement sizing and initiative tracking

A day in the life
You will spend your time between deep analytical work and cross-team coordination. On a given day you might run a cost comparison of 1P vs. 3P carriers on high-rejection lanes then join a weekly sync with Amazon Freight to review performance defects you surfaced. You will build the data that drives decisions not just dashboards but the so what and the recommended action. Your internal stakeholders include Amazon Freight operations Carrier Procurement Transportation Science Finance and the ICSO routing technology team. You report to the DFM Cost and Network Optimization lead and work closely with a Supply Chain Manager who owns the broader carrier strategy.

About the team
DFM Cost and Network Optimization is a 10-person team within Global Logistics responsible for $175MM in annual cost reduction initiatives across inbound transportation. We operate at the intersection of carrier economics network design and transportation technology. Our work directly influences how Amazon selects carriers routes shipments and prices transportation for vendors and sellers. We move fast use data to win arguments and own our outcomes end to end.

- 3 years of program or project management experience
- 3 years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 3 years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- 2 years of supply chain experience
- Bachelors degree
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

- Masters degree in supply chain business engineering finance or related technical or quantitative field
- 3 years of driving end to end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3 years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes project management and schedules

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
