Perform thorough Class A surface quality checks on BiW panels and assemblies
Identify document and categorize surface defects including dents scratches waviness read-through and paint imperfections
Apply standardized inspection criteria and judgment consistent with OEM Class A surface standards
Use appropriate lighting inspection tools and gauging equipment to detect non-conformances
Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Lead and participate in root cause analysis activities for identified surface quality defects
Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (8D 5-Why Ishikawa/Fishbone) to investigate non-conformances
Document findings containment actions and corrective/preventive action plans (CAPA)
Track RCA closure and verify effectiveness of corrective actions on the production floor
Supplier Collaboration
Interface directly with local Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to communicate quality issues and expectations
Conduct supplier visits and support on-site quality improvement activities as required
Review and provide feedback on supplier corrective action responses and quality plans
Build and maintain effective working relationships with supplier quality representatives
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate defect logs inspection records and quality metrics reports
Prepare and present daily/weekly quality status summaries to site leads and program management
Ensure all documentation complies with program and customer quality requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Experience
4 to 10 years of experience in supplier quality manufacturing quality or body-in-white quality roles
Hands-on experience performing Class A surface quality inspections in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment
Demonstrated experience leading or participating in root cause analysis and corrective action processes
Direct experience working with automotive suppliers in a quality assurance capacity
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of BiW assembly processes and Class A surface quality standards
Proficiency in quality tools: 8D 5-Why Fishbone Diagram Control Plans PFMEA
Familiarity with automotive quality systems and standards (IATF 16949 AIAG guidelines)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings GD&T and quality specifications
Experience with defect tracking and quality management systems
Soft Skills & Work Requirements
Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with production engineering and supplier teams
Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to defect identification and documentation
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production-floor environment
Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts as part of a 4 2 shift schedule
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to quality problem resolution
Education
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Automotive Technology or a related technical field preferred
