Supplier Quality Engineer

Ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts materials and services. Works with purchasing quality and engineering to assist in the resolution of supplier related issues. Performs supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards. Evaluates suppliers internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback to all departments involved. Develops and maintains the internal supplier rating and reporting system.

1. Contribute to Continuous improvement and cost-reduction activities.
2. Responsible for CAD Engineers as well as support personnel.
3. Responsible for all aspects of engineering for prototypes preproduction and production on all programs as outlined by management.
4. Award tooling programs and maintain cost containment.
5. Review evaluate and approve all designs and concepts of production tooling and check fixtures and assembly equipment for both new tooling and engineering changes.
6. Communicate to Customer Production Quality Purchasing and Management all program concerns.
7. Actively implement and track all customer changes and cost reductions.
8. Administrate process flow charts & F.M.E.A. capabilities.
9. Maintain APQP Program & filing system to support QS9001 System as well as ISO 14001.
10. Ensure daily pre-shift inspections are completed conduct unplanned inspection audits on a weekly basis and conduct semi-annual planned inspection audits of the area.
11. Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuation routes correcting any safety concerns immediately.
12. Review and sign off on accident/incident investigations within 24 hours with a follow-up review of short- and long-term corrective action measures.
13. Ensure weekly safety talks in pre-shift meetings are being conducted with team members signing safety training roster.
14. Support Joint Health & Safety and Ergonomic Committees and respond to all issues for resolution within 21 days.
15. Annually conduct PPE Assessments and Job Hazard Analysis.
16. Review the Health & Safety Dashboard weekly.
17. Develop and foster strong working relations with individuals teams and overall department; carry out performance assessments establish developmental/training requirements of the Purchasing Team; and implement corrective measures if required in order to sustain the effectiveness of services provided.
18. Responsible for the Supplier Rating Performance and Supplier Development actions.
19. Responsible for the implementation of adequate professional practices relating to the department.
20. Develop a long-term budget plan for the department to control expenditures assisting the Company and the Steering Team in achieving financial targets and objectives.
21. Develop programs for Cost Savings and Cost Avoidance tracking continuous improvement establishing procedures and job training.
22. Participate in short and long-term supplier price reduction initiatives with engineering and materials in order to optimize products being purchased as well as reduce cost from the supply chain flow.
23. Work closely with Divisional counterparts and other divisions to achieve and attain savings benefiting Company targets and objectives.
24. Participate in recruiting personnel by conducting interviews as required.
25. Supply performance reviews for team members in an orderly and timely manner.
26. Implement corrective measures and actions as required
27. Provide training and work instructions in the areas of but not limited to Health & Safety TS 16949 ISO14001 job-specific etc.
28. Educate support and promote corporate initiatives i.e. Employees Charter EOS Hotline Fairness Committee and the Employee Advocate.
29. Effectively implement and manage the Divisions financial matters to include meeting the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley.
30. Perform other duties as required.

What we are looking for:

B.A or B.S. Degree in Engineering Quality Sciences or other relevant study area.
Two (2) years minimum experience in the automotive industry with experience in quality and/or materials areas.

Production capacity analysis background
Tooling knowledge design and costing
Production and Raw Materials scheduling experience
Lean Manufacturing concepts acknowledgement
Inventory Management and Reconciliation (Scrap Reconciliation Analysis)
Container / Packaging studies and definition
Proficient in MS office software and the use of statistical software packages.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Facilitation skills and training skills and abilities.
Organizational skills and abilities.
Ability to travel on short notice.
Knowledge of AIAG automotive customer or similar quality requirements.
