Job Summary
As a Supervisory ADR Coordinator at the GSyou will be assigned to the Birmingham District Office or the Charlotte District Office Office of Field Programs (OFP) U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected you will be responsible for providing supervision guidance and coordination of a unified ADR and mediation program. This includes overseeing program operations ensuring consistent application of ADR principles and personally conducting mediations as required
- Duties may include the performance and supervision of the following: Counsels potential mediation participants and their representatives regarding mediation as an alternative to an administrative EEOC investigation or other formal procedures.
- Mediates employment disputes alleging violations of the laws the EEOC enforces including disputes that may include complex issues requiring application of new solutions or innovative techniques.
- Uses a variety of alternative dispute resolution techniques. Facilitates party interaction and provides parties with resolution options to bring about successful resolution.
- Exercises resourcefulness and ingenuity to win cooperation of participants or develop new approaches or solutions to problems where accepted methods and techniques have been challenged.
- Establishes a high degree of acceptability to the parties involved particularly when issues are sensitive or participants are resistant to compromise.
- Drafts and revises as necessary settlement agreements and other case resolution documents ensures appropriate documentation in the official charge system and submits factual and timely mediation reports.
- Mediates disputes that may include highly complex and complicated some cases mediations may require application of new solutions or innovative techniques.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National

- May be required to successfully complete a supervisory probationary period
To Qualify for the GS-14: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated ability to: Oversee all ADR activities for a district to include managing ADR program development and evaluation providing ADR training coordinating with the National ADR Coordinator and mediating complex employment disputes under laws enforced by the Commission and serves as a subject matter expert on conflict management and alternative dispute resolution programs and processes.
Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300 Subpart F. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level.
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements (e.g. time-in-grade and qualification requirements) within 30 days of the closing date specified in the vacancy announcement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
Relocation expenses will not be paid.
Birmingham District Office: The selectee will be required to have a duty station and report to one of the Birmingham District offices upon selection (Birmingham District Office Mobile Local Office or Jackson Area Office).
Charlotte District Location: The selectee will be required to have a duty station and report to one of the Charlotte District offices upon selection (Charlotte District Office Richmond Local Office Raleigh Area Office Norfolk Local Office Greenville Local Office Greensboro Local Office).
