About the Role:

The Supervisor of Production is responsible for the overall supervision of production employees and ownership of their department performance. This person provides leadership for safety quality productivity housekeeping and company values while promoting positive employee relations within the production team. This person is responsible for managing to the production schedules and assigning work to ensure parts and assemblies are produced efficiently on time within budget and to specifications.


What you will Do

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Supervisor of Production consist of but are not limited to:

Lead Manage and Hold Accountable

  • Working on the business by providing clear direction creating an opening for employees and taking time to think.
  • Working in the business by creating clear expectations communicating well and ensuring things get done.
  • Create a work environment where people are fully engaged and highly accountable.

Daily Department Management

  • Schedule review and coordinate departmental activities to optimize schedule attainment with consideration of safety quality delivery and cost.
  • Review analyze and act on production dashboard reports (KPIs) daily to measure and ensure effectiveness productivity and throughput goals are met.
  • Participates in interviewing hiring and training employees; ensures employees receive adequate training prior to operating any of the manufacturing equipment and that they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Plan assign and direct work; partners with scheduling team to establish production priorities based on customer needs machine availability and labor constraints.
  • Ensure shift administrative activities such as time reporting attendance control time off requests overtime etc. are properly implemented and documented.
  • Monitor and maintain Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) schedules.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Production Manager and Scheduling on issues and obstacles to overcome and work to ensure all machines equipment and resources are optimized.
  • Coordinates a seamless hand-off of work-in-process to the next shift works collaboratively and proactively with other supervisors to ensure work continues to run efficiently throughout the shop.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and interfaces with all departments within the organization to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Actively participates in daily operational meeting prepared to communicate what is going well and challenges on the shop floor.

Continuous Improvement and Troubleshooting

  • Participates in ongoing process improvements.
  • Identify and assign Continuous Improvement effective 5S and good housekeeping standards and ensure goals are being met.
  • Monitor and drive cost reductions such as waste scrap damage and rework.
  • Participates in root-cause analysis of machine crashes.

General

  • Exhibits a working knowledge of health and safety responsible for safety awareness while upholding and improving the culture of safety within the organization. Identify opportunities for improvement and report potential hazards unsafe working conditions unsafe equipment unsafe acts near misses and injuries immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

What Youll Bring:

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in machining industrial technology or related field or work experience in place of education.
  • 4 years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience.
  • 2 years of leadership experience with teams of 10 employees or greater preferred.
  • 3 years experience with precision CNC manufacturing equipment materials processes and systems in versatile manufacturing environments strongly preferred.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling employee relation situations.
  • Ability to understand quickly react and motivate others to adapt to the changing organization environment.
  • Strong ability for calculated risk taking; independent decision maker.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to analyze production data/reports to assess impact on throughput efficiencies and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Power Point)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to continually stand walk and sit for extended periods of time throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be willing to spend 95% of time on production floor.
  • Dexterity with computers - the ability to type and use a mouse.
  • Must be able to meet customer demand requirements for performing visual inspection and/or other product acceptance activities with or without accommodation (only for positions in which this is a requirement of the job per the customer requirement).
  • Required to use motor coordination most of the workday; activities such as but not limited to lifting bending stooping reaching grasping pushing pulling twisting and turning occasionally throughout shift.
