Job Summary

TITLE: Supervisor of Payroll

QUALIFICATIONS:

degree Business Related Field with at least 12 hours in Accounting OR

2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school finance preferably Payroll if not meeting degree and required hours of accounting

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

SUPERVISES: Payroll Department

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership in the administration of the payroll department;timely and accurate completion of all retirement reports

TERM: Twelve Months

SALARY: Accounting Supervisor Salary

(Based on Specified Degree Status)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To be responsible for administration of the payroll department which includes application of salary and wage schedules and all rules and regulations of the State of Louisiana and the parish school board relating to retirement withholding tax sick leave pay sabbatical leave pay insurance and other benefits allowed employees.
  2. To assist in the supervision of the Payroll Department staff
  • To assist in developing and maintaining accounting records in accordance with State Law and School Board policies
  1. To assist in preparation of payment of monthly retirement reports
  2. To prepare sick leave certification statements and annual salary information on retiring employees
  3. To prepare certification of annual salary and days worked for past and current employees for the retirement system
  • To prepare annual income tax statements

TITLE: Supervisor of Payroll

  • To prepare the PEP Report for budget purposes of all school personnel employed on October 1 of each school year and on total actual salaries of all school personnel whose salary is charged between objects 110 through 119 or object 140
  1. To assist Data Processing Department in developing new programs required by the payroll department
  2. To work with State and Federal Auditors each year
  3. To establish and execute a professional growth plan
  • To keep abreast of new State and Federal laws as well as changes in current law through written media televised media and workshops
  • To work effectively with school personnel and staff in answering and solving any problems they may have with payroll or retirement procedures
  • To consistently demonstrate self-direction
  1. To submit accurate records and reports promptly
  • To exhibit professional ethics at all times
  • To foster open communication and positive relationships with the school personnel and staff as well as the community
  • To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the CFO.
  • To follow state and school board policies
