Summer 2027 Mechanical Engineering Intern- Topeka, KS

Peraton is seeking a Summer 2027 Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the United States Postal Service Central Repair Facility contract. This position will be located in Topeka KS and will be onsite.

Responsibilities:

• Basic mechanical engineering knowledge
• AC Motor Design
• DC Motor Design
• Electromechanical control theory
• AutoCad (CaD software)
• 3D modeling
• 3D printing / Dimensioning

Required Qualifications:

• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Postal Service security clearance.
• Clearance is required to start.
• Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2027.
• Be majoring in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile).
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
• Must be local to the Topeka KS area and/or able to commute onsite daily.

Desired Qualifications:

• 3.7 cumulative GPA or higher.
• Good presentation and writing/communication skills.
• Self-motivated willing to learn and interested in working in a team environment.
• Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups.
• Experience in working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects.
• Experience in working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch.
