Substitute Teacher Pool Grades TK-8th

The Brisbane School District is a small public school district serving children in grades K-8. We are nestled into the eastern slope of the San Bruno Mountain between San Francisco South San Franciso and the SF Bay.

The Brisbane School District is comprised of two elementary schools and one middle school.

LIFESKILLS:
We use an approach called Lifeskills in all classrooms and schools in the District. This approach copyrighted by Susan Kovalik & Associates () begins with a description of qualities we believe will serve students well throughout their lives for example responsibility and integrity. They are taught through examples from real life and literature and from the vocabulary we use when children do not use them.

INTEGRATED THEMATIC INSTRUCTION (Highly Effective Teaching):
We believe that all children learn most efficiently when they can tie new cognitive content and skills to prior knowledge especially when with an experiential connection. We are trying to help our children develop into thoughtful and responsible citizens armed with basic skills and self-confidence. This approach allows us to challenge the most capable while successfully including struggling students. At the same time this approach has proven to be interesting and fun for teachers and children.
