Substitute Teacher Per Diem

This is an on call day by day position. This employee is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the teacher for whom he/she is substituting and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

1. Programming:

• Following the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom he/she is substituting in accordance with districts philosophy goals and objectives.
• Meeting and instructing assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Establishing and maintaining order in the classroom.
• Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students materials equipment and facilities.
• Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules administrative regulations and School Committee Policies.

• Cooperating with school personnel.
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees.

• Reporting to the principal or his/her designee at the beginning and end of the school day.

Additional Requirements:

• Associates Degree OR 60 College Credits Bachelors Degree preferred
• Experience working with school age children in an urban setting preferred
• Clear BCI through National Fingerprinting required by Law at personal cost of $45

Incremental pay is based as follows and resets each school year:
Days 1-45 - $100/day
Days 46-90 - $110/day
Days$130/day
Days 136 - $284.87/day
