POSITION SUMMARY

The Substitute Teacher provides temporary instructional coverage in the absence of regular classroom teachers ensuring continuity of curriculum delivery and a safe structured learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must meet Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requirements for substitute teachers: valid Michigan teaching certificate OR completion of at least 60 credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university
• Satisfactory criminal background check

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher; maintain continuity of instruction
• Maintain classroom management and foster a positive productive learning environment
• Take attendance and communicate with the main office as required
• Implement school policies and procedures; ensure student safety at all times
• Leave a brief summary for the regular teacher regarding classroom activities and any concerns

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the physical demands of the role including lifting bending stooping squatting and standing for extended periods. Work environment includes elevated noise levels.
